Privacy Policy
Syllabus2Cal turns your course syllabi into a calendar you control. This policy explains what we process, how we handle Google and Outlook calendar data, and the controls you have. We aim to collect the minimum needed and never sell your data.
Information we process
- Account: the email you sign in with (via our authentication provider) and basic workspace settings.
- Syllabus content: when you upload a syllabus we extract event text and structure needed to build and reprocess your calendar. We do not permanently store the original raw file unless you explicitly enable file storage.
- Review decisions and calendar events you approve, edit, or create in the app.
Google and Outlook calendar data
Connecting Google Calendar or Outlook is optional. When you connect:
- Reading: with your permission we read the calendars you select so we can show your existing events inside Syllabus2Cal as a read-only overlay. Private events are shown only as "Busy".
- Writing: Google Calendar writes are off by default. We create or update Google events only after you review an explicit sync preview and confirm it.
- Deleting: we delete Google Calendar events only when you explicitly confirm a cleanup ("remove duplicate/stale events") or a "remove all synced events" action, and we only remove events Syllabus2Cal itself created for that workspace. We never modify or delete events you or others created.
- Tokens: OAuth access and refresh tokens are encrypted and stored on our server only. They are never sent to your browser or written to logs. Disconnecting wipes the stored tokens and keeps your Syllabus2Cal events.
Limited Use. Syllabus2Cal's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google Calendar data for advertising, and we do not sell it or transfer it to others except as needed to provide the feature you requested or as required by law.
How we use your information
Only to run the product for you: parse syllabi, build and sync your calendar, show overlays you enable, send the reminders you configure, and keep your account secure. We do not use your syllabus or calendar content to train external AI models, and untrusted syllabus text is treated as data, never as instructions.
Sharing
We do not sell your data. Read-only share links are created only when you make one, and you can revoke them at any time. We use a small number of infrastructure providers (hosting, database, authentication) to operate the service.
Retention and your controls
- Delete a workspace or a saved syllabus to remove its stored extracted text; where a retention window is configured, older extracted blocks are purged automatically.
- Disconnect Google or Outlook at any time to wipe stored tokens.
- Export or delete your account data from Settings.
Security
Calendar tokens are encrypted at rest, backend-only tables are access restricted, and secrets are never exposed to the browser or logs.
Children
Syllabus2Cal is intended for college and university students and is not directed to children under 13.
